Waradah (Daruk).  The 'Waratah' is the native emblem of NSW and grows in abundance in the Sydney Region.  The Waradah was a source of  'spring season' food and medicine for the local people.  The flower was cut at the base and the nectar sucked on. There are many stories telling of how the waradah got its colour.  It is believed that originally they were only white in colour.  White waratahs are now far less common than red ones.
